Fish Tugs of the Greatest Lake
NELS J.
NELS J. 247403 A 35 ft. wood hulled fish tug built at Bayfield, Wis. by Frank Muhlke in 1946 and owned by Melvin Bugge, Knife River, Minn.
The NELS J. has had what may be the most unusual fate of any boat listed on these pages: in May 2001, the boat was reconditioned, moved to Canal Park in Duluth, and now sits on shore near the Army Corps of Engineers Museum, serving as a snack stand. (Above; below, in her more accustomed role.)
